madden 08

a few weeks ago my flatmate niki bought an xbox 360. for the past 3 weeks she has been on it constantly playing halo3, street fighter, and a game i have no clue what its called but its a tetris-gem-street-fighter game. now i am no console game expert. i have friends who play them, but ive never really ‘inhaled’. i am strictly a pc person that plays games occasionally on just that, my pc.
well any way, yesterday i came home from running around to find that she got the madden 08 game for her xbox 360. now just a few days earlier i had seen in a store, or maybe it was a bar, cant really remember where i was, but i saw this football game being played and for the life of me i thought it was an actual football game. for about 30 seconds i was watching the tv wondering which teams were playing. it was after a bit that one player did an amazing ’super-human’ gymnastic move that i started to wonder if i was actually watching a real game. no human could flip like that! i came to find out a little later in the play that i was watching madden 08 and not a real live game. i was amazed.
so last night we played madden 08. it was my home team vs her home team (san francisco 49ers vs baltimore ravens). the play was awesome! we really got into it. we cheered, laughed, and charged the teams on. it took us about 1 and a half quarters to learn what the heck we were doing. game play was stunning, fast, and easy to really get into. i can see now why this game is popular!
niki’s ravens scored first (me being the gentleman and letting the lady go first - lol) and after that it was a game of “i score - you score - i score - you score”. with less than 2 minutes to go in the fourth quarter, my 49ers made the last touchdown to break the tie and bring victory and glory to the best city in the world, san francisco.
there was much cheering and strutting of one’s stuff, in the end.
need less to say i had a lot of fun and i am no longer a console game virgin.
