starting to feel better

a week ago tonight, i started to come down with a head cold.  it wasnt much, but it did make me extra tired and fuddle brain.  the past couple of nights i had to work extra late which has drained me further.  one good thing, yesterday i heard from susanna.  its very uplifting to hear from her.  i have been thinking of her – well i always think of her – but i was just thinking of her and wondering how she was doing.  it seems she was doing the same.  weird how we do that. in a week i will be 37.  not something i am looking forward to.  it just sounds so much older to me....

a new weekend is very nearly upon us here.  today marks the 8th anniversary of the terror attacks on new york, which the internet is buzzing about over.  i really dont mean to rehash anything and i certainly do not wish to diminish the impact they had upon not just americans, but everyone in the world. i remember 8 years ago.  diana (my then wife) woke me up around 6am pacific time to tell me that two planes had struck the world trade center in new york and another hit the pentagon in washington dc.  out on the east coast, people were already alert and walking about, at work, wondering...

the melancholy madness of a not quite right mind

tonight i am working on a new website for a client of mine.  really needing to finish up on it.  so here i sit, drinking tea, listening to the rain over my zero7 playing on my itunes. strangely my thoughts wander from work and settle on my shining star.  i pause for a while before i move back to the work at hand. the rain coming down upon the dark street.  the street lights reflecting off the wet pavement,  stars on a cloudy night.  cars rushing past amplify the sound of storm outside.  always sounds worse when the cars go by.  it makes me melancholy yet comforting.  longing yet at...

florida grand opera

this morning was an interesting one. the sky was split in twine by daylight to the north and heavy dark clouds to the south. i had the radio on to the new local classical station. south florida never had a classical station since ive been here, so to have one now is a treat. one of the community announcements they had on was about the florida grand opera. when i got to work i quickly looked it up and see that they are performing two operas i would love to see: Il barbiere di Siviglia and Carmen. i am so excited to find something worth while out here to go to. i am tired of the...
