a new weekend is very nearly upon us here. today marks the 8th anniversary of the terror attacks on new york, which the internet is buzzing about over. i really dont mean to rehash anything and i certainly do not wish to diminish the impact they had upon not just americans, but everyone in the world.
i remember 8 years ago. diana (my then wife) woke me up around 6am pacific time to tell me that two planes had struck the world trade center in new york and another hit the pentagon in washington dc. out on the east coast, people were already alert and walking about, at work, wondering what they were going to do for lunch that day. on the west coast, we woke up to a ghost town. by 6 am all the airports had been told to shut down. all flights were grounded and everyone was told not to go into work or chose not to.
we awoke to a brand new world, a changed world. we woke to three thousand or more dead, gone forever. lives that were irrevocably erased but shall never be forgotten by those of us that live on.
